When I joined my crafty group, they had made contact with a woman who would bring all sorts of fabrics to the host's home at some of our gatherings and many of us would buy fabrics. Ibu Leili came to our apartment once with many fabrics and sold practically everything she brought with her. Recently Ibu Leili had been hard to contact and we learned the reason is that she used to work for a clothing maker and that's where she got the fabric to bring. She no longer works for the clothing maker so she's lost her fabric contacts.
To keep my group in fabrics, two members of the group have purchased miscellaneous 2 meter pieces of fabrics, jelly rolls, fat quarters, etc., and had them shipped here. At a sewing gathering, the fabric is displayed and group members can buy what they need. One lady gets fabrics from Bali, the other from Solo here on Java. Both sets of fabrics seem to be mostly Bali type batiks in bright colors.
This is what happens when several huge mail bags of fabric descend on the host's living room (this is only part of one shipment). Here some of the goods are still actually in the bags!
I have certainly purchased my fair share of fabric, but some of my friends go crazy. In their defense, however, they work much more quickly than I do and probably use the fabric faster.
