Furniture!

We  have been able to outfit our apartment! We turned these stacks of Ikea boxes into a lot of furniture!

Dining room/living room bookcase. We actually had purchased a bookcase in Jakarta but we sold it before we left. Keep in mind, when we were selling things, we were moving directly to France. Only after we sold things and just before we were to leave did the plans change and we were re-routed to the US for "5 months" (which turned into 1 year.)
Our original nightstands consisted of stacked suitcases. Try it before you dismiss it as silly. It worked! My hi-tech version was topped with a square of heavy cardboard because the top suitcase wasn't firm enough.
Now we have 2 nightstands. We really like the lamps, too! very small footprint.

Two desks and desk chairs. B likes a chair with arms.

B's chair!
Entertainment unit.
File cabinet.
Dining room table and chairs. The table has an insert which makes it an oval shape to seat more folks. The insert self-stores inside the table. Nice!
Dresser.
China cupboard.

Storage unit.
"Desk drawers" for under B's desk.
Another dresser.
This sofa converts to a bed. The back cushions come off and the bench part folds back and over to form the bed.
The original plan for furniture didn't take into account I would need a chair for my craft room- this cute purplish chair also from Ikea will work well.

That is nearly all of the furniture. We also purchased two tall, thin cabinets to act as a linen-type closet. The bathrooms are large but have little storage. There is plenty of room for cabinets, however. We are waiting for a replacement door which was delivered with a large gouge.

We also bought a kitchen cart (non-Ikea so the directions were not easy)
There is only one outlet in this kitchen- adjacent to the sink. Running an extension cord from the dining room, across the pocket door on the floor and to this island gave us another outlet! Yay! We found a cable cover which is almost the color of the floor so you really don't notice the cord laying in the doorway. Command hooks tucked the cable up on the top of the baseboard molding. This cart also gave us somewhere to keep the mixer, the slow cooker, etc.

We were also able to get replacement half-glass doors for the cabinet we brought from Indonesia. They arrived broken (aka smashed)!

One last comment: because the furniture is white to off-white, the furniture doesn't really make the rooms look any smaller. Nice!

The moving company finally came to pick up our broken down cardboard boxes. We were able to add all of the Ikea boxes to the piles as well so yay!

Now we have use of the living room. Furniture got moved into place after this photo was taken.
